A default gateway is the router a host uses as the next hop for traffic whose destination is outside the host’s local IP subnet. Traffic to a destination on the local subnet is sent directly to that destination. Microsoft Learn’s TCP/IP addressing and subnetting documentation describes this local-versus-remote determination and forwarding remote traffic to the default gateway.

A firewall uplink that must not be bridged requires a Layer 3 routed physical interface. On an AOS-CX 6300, routing makes the interface Layer 3 and permits an IPv4 address to be configured directly on it. no routing instead creates a Layer 2 interface, and vlan access applies to Layer 2 access interfaces.

DHCP client discovery messages are broadcasts confined to VLAN 100, while 10.200.1.51 is in a different subnet. An IP helper/DHCP relay configured on the VLAN 100 Layer 3 interface relays those requests to the remote DHCP server.

For AOS-CX ZTP, the desired firmware image must be available on the provisioning server so a factory-default switch can download and install it during ZTP. HPE documents that the image file is published to a TFTP or HTTP server and its location is provided through DHCP vendor-class options. Aruba Central’s unprovisioned entry is only a placeholder for switches, not a group in which to set firmware compliance.

The CX 6300 management interface is configured with ip static <address>/<prefix> and default-gateway <address> in the interface mgmt context. Its physical management port is permanently assigned to the mgmt VRF, so no VRF attachment is required.

The root bridge is the reference switch for the spanning-tree topology. All other switches select their lowest-cost path toward the root bridge, and spanning tree assigns forwarding or blocking roles to prevent loops. Aruba AOS-CX documentation states that the topology forms after the root bridge, root ports, and designated ports are selected.

Virtual Switching Framework (VSF) creates one logical switch from compatible physical switches connected through standard Ethernet links. Stack membership is restricted to the same switch family; Aruba documentation specifically states that 6200 and 6300 switches cannot be mixed in one VSF stack.

A subnet mask of 255.255.254.0 is a /23 mask, leaving 9 bits for host addressing. The address belongs to network 10.64.0.0/23, whose broadcast address is 10.64.1.255.

HPE Aruba Networking Central supports centralized firmware management, allowing administrators to schedule device upgrades for a later date and time, including during a suitable maintenance window.

CX 6200 switches enable SSH and the HTTPS Web UI/REST API by default; Telnet is disabled by default. SSH and HTTPS provide encrypted management access, so the factory-default configuration does not enable an insecure management protocol.

On HPE Aruba Networking OS-CX, LLDP support is enabled globally by default on all active interfaces, allowing LLDP-based neighbor discovery without an initial global or per-interface enablement step.

Fabric Composer uses the AOS-CX REST API over HTTPS for ongoing switch communication and management. SSH is only an initial-discovery fallback when a switch’s REST service is disabled.

A static AOS-CX LAG uses no LACP mode configuration; AOS-CX supports lacp mode active or passive, while disabling LACP returns the LAG to static aggregation. An untagged VLAN 50 must be configured as the native VLAN, and VLANs 50, 100, 200, and 300 must be allowed on the LAG so VLAN 50 is carried untagged and VLANs 100, 200, and 300 are carried with 802.1Q tags.

A 40 Gbps connection spanning 35 km requires single-mode fiber, which supports high-bandwidth optical transmission over long distances. Multimode fiber is intended for substantially shorter links, and UTP is unsuitable for this distance.

SNMPv3 provides authentication and privacy; its privacy protocol encrypts SNMP requests and data. AOS-CX supports SNMPv3 privacy protocols such as AES, whereas SNMPv2/v2c do not provide encrypted SNMP communication.

The AP has the IPv4 link-local management address 169.254.2.58, which shows that it did not receive a usable DHCP address. Aruba documents that APs use DHCP to obtain IPv4 configuration and self-assign an address in the 169.254 subnet when DHCP service is unavailable and no static address is configured. Because VLAN 10 has a DHCP relay configured, the DHCP server can be in a different subnet; the likely issue is that it is unavailable or not responding.

A CX VSF stack is a single logical device with a shared control plane and a single management access point. The Conductor runs the control-plane software, so its SNMP service answers stack-wide SNMP queries; the Standby assumes that role only after a Conductor failover. HPE Aruba Networking CX 6400 is a modular core switch platform with 5-slot and 10-slot chassis options; the 10-slot chassis is 12U. It supports interface speeds up to 100GbE, satisfying both the aggregation-layer speed and chassis-scale requirements.

Quality of Service (QoS) prioritizes delay-sensitive Teams real-time traffic, such as voice and video, over less time-sensitive traffic during network congestion. This reduces effects such as packet loss, jitter, and degraded call quality.

A CX 6200F interface configured as a VSF link becomes a routed interface dedicated to the VSF fabric; its prior VLAN, ACL/QoS, speed/duplex, and MTU configuration is removed, and normal protocols and features cannot run on it.

AOS-CX classifies the host route for a loopback interface address as a local route. A directly connected route represents an attached network prefix, whereas the loopback address itself is locally owned by the switch.

VSF is not supported on the HPE Aruba Networking CX 8325 Switch Series. Therefore, the vsf configuration command is unavailable, producing an invalid-input error.

An ArubaOS-CX DHCP relay target is configured with ip helper-address on the client-facing Layer 3 interface. The VLAN 200 SVI, addressed as 192.168.200.1/24, is the clients’ default gateway and receives their DHCP broadcasts; it must relay them to 192.168.1.100. HPE Aruba Networking documents ip helper-address as defining a remote DHCP server or relay agent and forwarding client requests to configured server addresses.
