DiffServ assigns voice and video to different service classes so they receive appropriate forwarding treatment. The Drop Ad Hoc Conference service parameter prevents toll fraud when an internal conference controller disconnects while external callers remain connected. Configuring it to end the conference when no OnNet party remains, or when the conference controller leaves, prevents the external participant from retaining the conference connection to place a premium-rate call.

A third-party CA signs a certificate request created by the server that will use the certificate. The CSR is generated and downloaded from each applicable Cisco UCM or Cisco Unity Connection server, then provided to the CA so it can issue the signed certificate.

Cisco Unified CM remains in the SIP signaling path for an on-net direct-media call, even though RTP media flows directly between the phones. A URI dial plan uses SIP URI destinations, whose user@domain structure resembles an email address. E.164 instead uses internationally formatted telephone numbers; DNS and H.323 do not define this email-like dial-plan destination format.

Scavenger traffic receives less-than-best-effort treatment and is marked with DSCP CS1 (value 8); this lets it be placed in the minimal-bandwidth queue and be deprioritized during congestion.

Cisco CallManager SNMP is the UCM application-specific SNMP service and must be activated manually in Cisco Unified Serviceability after installation before it can provide CallManager management information through SNMP.
