QuestionQ79

Advanced Configuration and Troubleshooting

An administrator recently added three nodes to an existing five-node cluster. Although one node came with its own block, the other two nodes were added to an existing block.

After the nodes were added, the administrator sees that the Hardware tab displays the correct number of nodes, but the Diagram tab shows incorrect positions.

What should the administrator do to resolve the issue?

  • A SSH into the CVMs and run genesis acropolis stop; cluster start.
  • B SSH into CVM and perform genesis restart on each CVM.
  • C Check the factory_config.json for the two single nodes.
  • D Check the factory_config.json for all 3 nodes.
Explanation

For a standalone node physically installed in an existing Nutanix chassis, its /etc/nutanix/factory_config.json must identify the existing block and the node’s physical position. Incorrect block or slot metadata causes Prism’s Hardware Diagram to place nodes incorrectly even when cluster membership and node count are correct. The configuration should therefore be checked on the two standalone nodes added to the existing block.
