QuestionQ41

Monitor, configure, and optimize database resources

You have SQL Server running on an Azure virtual machine. You review the query plan shown in the following exhibit.

For each of the following statements, select Yes if the statement is true. Otherwise, select No.

Yes or No
StatementsYesNo
You will reduce the I/O usage and the query execution time if you force the query plan.
You will increase the I/O usage and the query execution time if you create a new index on the SalesOrderHeader table.
You will reduce the I/O usage and the query execution time if you include the SubTotal, TaxAmt, and Freight columns in the PK_SalesOrderHeader_SalesOrderID index.
Explanation

Forcing a plan does not guarantee improved performance, and SQL Server normally selects the optimal available plan. A properly designed nonclustered covering index can avoid a key lookup and reduce disk I/O, so a new index does not inherently worsen this SELECT. Included (nonkey) columns are permitted only on nonclustered indexes; the clustered primary-key index already stores table data and cannot be extended with an INCLUDE list.
