QuestionQ23

Manage storage and file services

Your network has an Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) domain. The domain includes these servers:

  • Server1: Has the DES Namespaces role service installed
  • Server2: Has the DFS Namespaces role service installed
  • Server3: Hosts a file share named \\Server3\Share1
  • Server4: Hosts a file share named \\Server4\Share2

You need to publish both file shares in one DFS namespace named Corp. Corp must stay available if either Server1 or Server2 becomes unavailable.

What should you do?

Explanation

A domain-based DFS namespace can use multiple namespace servers to host the same namespace, providing namespace availability when one namespace server fails. The shares on Server3 and Server4 can be added as folder targets within that namespace. DFS Replication replicates folder content and does not provide namespace-server availability.
