ExpressRoute FastPath reduces latency between SAP application VMs and HANA Large Instances by bypassing the ExpressRoute gateway data path. A proximity placement group colocates the application VMs with the HANA Large Instance infrastructure to reduce physical network distance. Default HANA Large Instance networking does not support transitive routing from on-premises systems, which prevents direct access by an on-premises SAP Solution Manager; Azure Firewall is a supported solution for enabling that routed connectivity.
