With reference to the exhibit, how does router E quickly learn that the remote MAC addresses can no longer be reached through the router connected to the failed link?

Question Image

  • A Router E receives Type 2 withdrawal messages from router D.
  • B Router E receives Type 1 withdrawal messages from router D.
  • C Router E receives Type 1 withdrawal messages from router C.
  • D Router E receives Type 2 withdrawal messages from router C.
Explanation

EVPN Type 1 Ethernet Auto-Discovery per Ethernet Segment routes provide the mass-withdraw mechanism for a failure of connectivity to a multihomed Ethernet segment. When VTEP D loses its link to that segment, it withdraws its Type 1 route; remote VTEPs such as E update forwarding for the MAC addresses associated with that Ethernet segment without waiting for individual Type 2 MAC/IP withdrawals.
