What distinguishes OM4 cabling from OM5 cabling?
OM5 is the approved designation for Wide Band Multimode Fiber (WBMMF). It meets OM4 specifications at 850 nm and adds bandwidth characterization around 953 nm, allowing 100G BiDi or SWDM optical links to reach up to 150 m, compared with 100 m on OM4. OM4 may still be used with SWDM, although its specified wideband performance and achievable reach are lower.
