QuestionQ43

Troubleshooting

You deployed UBT to securely tunnel traffic from user desktop PCs connected behind VoIP phones. All other non-UBT clients connect to a separate network. After deployment, users reported interruptions in phone service.

What caused this issue?

Explanation

A UBT desktop client and a non-UBT VoIP phone must not share the same VLAN on the same switch port. In this topology, UBT client broadcast and multicast packets can return to the same port and corrupt the phone’s MAC table, which interrupts VoIP service.
