Where is the Cohesity DataProtect agent installed?
Cohesity protects workloads running on HPE VM Essentials (a KVM-based hyperconverged virtualization platform) through an agent-based backup model rather than an agentless, hypervisor-integrated snapshot method. This means the Cohesity DataProtect agent is deployed and installed directly inside the guest operating system of each virtual machine running on VM Essentials, enabling Cohesity to capture consistent backups of that VM's data. This differs from Cohesity cluster nodes, which host the Cohesity backup software/cluster itself, and from the VM Essentials cluster nodes, which are the hypervisor hosts and are not where the guest-level backup agent resides.
