Which four VLANs may be configured on the UCS platform?
Cisco UCS Manager allows administrators to create named VLANs across nearly the full 802.1Q ID space, but it reserves a contiguous internal block for fabric-interconnect system use (documented for the Nexus-5000-based UCS fabric interconnects as VLAN IDs 3968 through 4029); any VLAN ID falling in that reserved band is rejected by UCS Manager and cannot be created or assigned. VLAN IDs 1, 199, and 1001 are ordinary values well outside the reserved band and are freely configurable, and 4047 lies above the upper boundary of the reserved block, making it configurable as well, whereas 3968 (the start of the reserved block) and 4001 (inside the reserved block) cannot be used because UCS Manager refuses VLAN creation requests for IDs in that internal range.
