WLC multicast-multicast mode sends encapsulated multicast traffic once to a CAPWAP multicast group, allowing the network to replicate it efficiently for the relevant access points. This reduces controller processing and avoids sending a separate unicast copy to every AP. The default multicast-unicast mode is less efficient because the WLC replicates each multicast packet and unicasts it individually to every associated AP.
