Explanation

DHCP centrally manages a scope of available IP addresses, leases an address to a client for a configurable duration, and can deliver other network configuration values such as DNS server information. Because address assignment is automatic, DHCP reduces manual client setup effort for new or moved end-user devices. Mapping hostnames to IP addresses and maintaining authoritative name records are DNS responsibilities, not DHCP responsibilities.
