The VM_NAME variable displays a warning indicating that the variable cannot be found. On the Service tab, the variable is shown to match the VM_NAME field entry, as in the exhibit below:

What is causing this warning message?

Explanation

Nutanix Calm variables are scoped to their Application Profile. A variable defined only on a Service is not available when validating the VM Name field, so the @@{VM_NAME}@@ macro cannot be resolved there. Defining VM_NAME under the Application Profile makes it available to the VM configuration.
