QuestionQ23

Infrastructure

A customer has a NetApp ONTAP cluster that uses only the FC protocol over a 4-port UTA2 adapter in slot 1, using ports 1a and 1b.

Why are ports e1c and e1d both unavailable for a NAS workload?

Explanation

UTA2 ports can be configured for Fibre Channel or CNA/Ethernet operation. When the relevant UTA2 ports are configured in FC mode, they cannot serve as Ethernet network ports for NAS LIFs; NAS requires CNA/Ethernet mode.
