A stretched two-node ONTAP Select HA configuration relies on the mediator service hosted by the ONTAP Select Deploy VM to establish quorum and manage failures. Hosting that Deploy VM at a third location preserves an independent quorum participant if either data center fails. Data aggregates within the HA pair are synchronously mirrored, providing failover without data loss without configuring a separate SnapMirror Synchronous StrictSync relationship.
