QuestionQ59

Manage storage and file services

DRAG DROP -

You have a file server that runs Windows Server and contains a deduplicated NTFS volume named Volume01.

Volume01 contains file shares for a team at your company.

During a recent period of peak usage, the Data Deduplication default schedules paused. During the pause, administrators deleted many optimized files, and storage diagnostics reported bad sectors on the underlying disks.

You need to run Data Deduplication on Volume01 to meet the following requirements:

Reclaim free space.

Validate and repair data integrity issues.

Which job should you run for each requirement? To answer, drag the appropriate jobs to the correct requirements. Each job may be used once, more than once, or not at all. You may need to drag the split bar between panes or scroll to view content.

NOTE: Each correct selection is worth one point.

Reclaim free space:
Validate and repair the data integrity issues:
Explanation

The Garbage Collection job processes previously deleted or logically overwritten optimized file chunks that are no longer referenced and reclaims the disk space they occupied, so it is the job that reclaims free space after optimized files were deleted while deduplication schedules were paused. The Scrubbing (integrity scrubbing) job validates the integrity of the deduplicated chunk store and, when it finds corruption — such as damage caused by the reported bad sectors — attempts to repair it using alternate copies of the affected chunks and produces a scrubbing report, making it the job that validates and repairs the data integrity issues.
