QuestionQ57

Manage storage and file services

DRAG DROP -

Your network contains an on-premises Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) domain named contoso.com. The domain contains three file servers named Serverl1, Server2, and Server3.

You have a domain-based Distributed File System (DFS) share named \contoso.com\shares\Projects. Projects has folder targets on each file server. DFS Replication replicates Projects between the servers.

You need to migrate the replication for Projects from DFS Replication to Azure File Sync by using an existing Azure Files share. The solution must meet the following requirements:

Preserve the current domain UNC path.

After the migration, sync the changes from all the servers by using Azure File Sync.

Ensure that the Azure Files share contains the Projects data before DFS Replication is retired.

What should you do? To answer, drag the appropriate actions to the correct requirements. Each action may be used once, more than once, or not at all. You may need to drag the split bar between panes or scroll to view content.

NOTE: Each correct selection is worth one point.

To sync the file servers:
Explanation

Microsoft's supported migration path from DFS Replication to Azure File Sync requires populating the Azure Files share before decommissioning DFS Replication: you install the Azure File Sync agent on one DFSR server that holds the complete data set and register it as the first server endpoint in the sync group with cloud tiering disabled, then wait for that server's data to fully upload to the Azure file share (cloud endpoint) so the share is populated before DFS Replication is retired. Because DFS Replication and Azure File Sync should not be layered simultaneously across all replica servers, the remaining servers are added as server endpoints only after DFS Replication has been disabled/retired, at which point Azure File Sync becomes the sole mechanism keeping Server2 and Server3 in sync with the Azure Files share (and the DFS namespace target can then be pointed at the Azure Files share UNC path to preserve the existing \contoso.com\shares\Projects path).
