Under the DoD 8500 issuance series, DoDD/DoDI 8500 establishes the overall (General) information assurance/cybersecurity policy; the 8510 series (originally DIACAP, now the Risk Management Framework) governs IA Certification and Accreditation; the 8520 series, covering PKI and related security services, addresses Security Management; the 8530 series governs Computer Network Defense; the 8540 series (Cross Domain policy) governs Interconnectivity between systems of differing security levels; and the 8570 series governs IA Education, Training, and Awareness through the IA workforce training and certification program.
