A Customer Data Platform (CDP) is designed to collect first-party personal data directly from customer interactions and unify it into persistent customer profiles, establishing nodes and contextual relationships (identity resolution, linked attributes, and events) across data points. This distinguishes it from a Data Management Platform, which mainly handles anonymized or third-party audience data for segmentation, and from Data Lake storage, which simply stores raw structured and unstructured data without inherently modeling relationships between records.
