Constitutional protections generally constrain governmental action, not the actions of a purely private employer. A private-sector worker may have protections under specific federal or state employment statutes, but a supervisor’s conduct does not itself constitute a Fourth Amendment or other constitutional violation unless the employer’s conduct is attributable to the government.
