SmartMigration preserves the source and target LUN IDs while exchanging their data-volume IDs. Before exchange, the source LUN ID identifies the source LUN and maps to its source data volume. After exchange, the host still uses the source LUN ID, but that ID maps to and accesses the target data volume. Once the pair is split, the migration relationship is removed, so host writes are directed only to the target LUN/data volume and are no longer dual-written.
