For high data volumes and a constrained backup window, LAN-free backup—not LAN-based backup—is required to avoid LAN bandwidth becoming the bottleneck. VM-deployed eBackup requires resource isolation from service VMs, and separate eBackup VM nodes must be placed on different physical servers for fault isolation. The eBackup software is deployed wholly on either physical servers or VMs.
