Ethernet switches with all or some optical ports can be used to build a Fibre Channel storage network.
A native Fibre Channel storage network requires switches and interfaces that support the Fibre Channel protocol. Optical Ethernet ports provide an Ethernet physical connection, not Fibre Channel fabric capability.
