QuestionQ25

Network Security

On a WLAN where Portal authentication is configured on the WAC, VLAN authorization can be performed without requiring any additional configuration. After Portal authentication is completed, the WAC forwards STA traffic according to the authorized VLANs.

Explanation

VLAN authorization is not supported for users who are online through Portal authentication. In MAC-address-prioritized Portal deployments, the user must go offline after Portal authentication and then pass MAC authentication before an authorized VLAN can be assigned; therefore, Portal authentication alone does not automatically make the WAC forward STA traffic by an authorized VLAN.
