VMware NSX encapsulates overlay traffic across the physical transport network, adding packet overhead. The ArubaOS-CX interfaces that carry NSX transport traffic must use compatible jumbo-frame MTU settings so encapsulated packets are not dropped or fragmented. NSX overlay subnets and virtual network IDs are independent of the physical underlay’s routing interfaces and VLAN IDs.
