D-PDD-DY-01: Dell PowerProtect Data Domain Deploy

QuestionQ13

Pre-Deployment Check

An implementation engineer is performing the initial configuration of Cloud Tier on a Dell PowerProtect Data Domain Virtual Edition (DDVE) appliance.

What must they do before implementing this feature?

Explanation

Before configuring Cloud Tier for the first time on a Data Domain system, the Data Domain File System (DDFS) must be disabled. This is required because enabling and configuring the Cloud Tier feature (licensing, adding a cloud unit, and provisioning cloud storage) changes the file system configuration, and Dell's implementation procedure specifies stopping the file system prior to this initial setup, after which the file system is re-enabled once Cloud Tier configuration is complete.
