Which components should be defined within the Resource Layer?
The Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops architecture model separates infrastructure into an Access Layer (StoreFront, NetScaler Gateway), a Control Layer (the Site, Delivery Controllers, database), and a Resource Layer that hosts the actual delivery resources. The Resource Layer is defined by the Virtual Delivery Agents that run the published apps and desktops, the Host Connections that Citrix uses to communicate with the underlying hypervisor or cloud platform to provision those machines, and the Zones that organize resource locations, typically for geographically distributed deployments. NetScaler Gateway and StoreFront Stores sit in the Access Layer, and the Site itself is a Control Layer construct, so they fall outside the Resource Layer.
