An engineer must deploy a SAN that meets these criteria:

  • The upstream director switch must be configured to minimize the number of issued domain IDs.
  • The access switch must aggregate multiple locally connected ports into a single uplink that shares the same domain ID as the switch.

Explanation

NPV aggregates locally connected N ports through an NP-port uplink and avoids a separate domain ID for the edge switch by sharing the NPV core switch’s domain. The NP port connects to an F port on the director/core switch. Server-facing ports on the access switch are F ports, and each attached host is an N port.
