Explanation

Straight-through UTP connects switches to routers or end stations such as servers. Crossover UTP connects two routers, which are at the same OSI layer. Fiber optic cable is appropriate for the interbuilding link carried through the underground conduit. Coaxial and console cables are not used for these Ethernet data links.
