QuestionQ17

VerifiedUnknown / not found in official Broadcom sources

An administrator is diagnosing intermittent connectivity failures between two workloads attached to NSX VLAN segments by using Traceflow. In-band Network Telemetry (INT) is enabled in the NSX Global Configuration.

How does Traceflow detect issues in a VLAN network?

Explanation

With INT enabled, Traceflow can operate on VLAN-backed NSX segments. It injects a specially tagged synthetic trace packet into the data plane and reports observations from the forwarding path to NSX, enabling identification of where traffic is delivered or dropped. Traceflow is not restricted to ICMP traffic.
